What your plan answers

Three questions that keep pre-retirees up at night — answered on paper.

Not a sales meeting. Not a brochure. A document with your name on it and your numbers in it.

“When can we actually retire?”

Your retirement timeline

A projected retirement window based on your savings, income sources, and spending goals — with the assumptions shown, so you can see exactly how we got there.

“How much can we spend without running out?”

Your monthly income picture

A sustainable spending estimate that coordinates Social Security timing, portfolio withdrawals, and pension or annuity income into one monthly number you can plan around.

“What is this costing us in taxes?”

Your tax opportunity review

The three most common tax planning opportunities we see pre-retirees miss — checked against your situation, including Roth conversion windows and withdrawal sequencing.

The kind of analysis firms typically reserve for paying clients.

Most firms offer a “free consultation” — a conversation that leaves with them. This is different. Every piece of your Retirement Confidence Plan is a document you keep.

Why free? Because it’s the best introduction we could design. Some people who receive a plan choose to work with us. Many simply leave with more clarity than they came with — and tell a friend. Both outcomes are good ones.

A note from Ray

After two decades in this business, I’ve noticed the people who struggle most in retirement aren’t the ones who saved too little. They’re the ones who never got a straight answer.

They sat through “free consultations” that were really sales presentations. They were told their portfolio was too small for the big firms, or handed a glossy brochure instead of a plan. So they kept working “one more year” — not because the math said to, but because nobody ever showed them the math.

That’s why I build the Retirement Confidence Plan the way I do. It’s written down. The assumptions are visible. And it’s yours to keep even if we never speak again — because a plan you can’t take home isn’t really yours.

As a fiduciary, I’m required to put your interests first. As someone who does this for families across the Front Range, I’d want the same thing for my own parents: a straight answer, on paper, with no strings.

Fair questions

What people ask before booking.

Is this actually free? What’s the catch?
It’s actually free, and the “catch” is transparent: it’s how we introduce ourselves. If your plan reveals things you’d like help implementing, we’ll tell you what working together looks like — and if it doesn’t, you keep the plan and we part as friends. There is never an obligation, and we’ll never pressure you.
Do I need a minimum amount saved?
There’s no minimum to receive a Retirement Confidence Plan. The plan is most useful for households within roughly ten years of retirement who have meaningful retirement savings — that’s where the timeline, income, and tax questions have real stakes.
What do I need to bring?
Just two things: your most recent investment/retirement account statements and your Social Security estimates (from ssa.gov). If you can’t find something, bring what you have — we’ll work with it.
Where do meetings happen?
At our offices in Englewood or Broomfield, Colorado — or by phone or video if that’s more convenient for you.
What does “fiduciary” mean, and why does it matter?
A fiduciary is legally and ethically required to act in your best interest. Many financial professionals are held only to a “suitability” standard — their recommendations must be suitable, not necessarily best for you. New Light Financial is a Colorado-registered investment adviser, and Ray is a CFP® professional held to a fiduciary standard.
Will you try to sell me investments in the meeting?
No. The discovery meeting and plan presentation are about your plan. If you later decide you’d like our help implementing it, that’s a separate conversation you initiate.

The plan is free. The clarity is permanent.

Fifteen minutes on the phone is all it takes to get started. The worst case? You leave with a written retirement analysis you didn’t have before.
